Rocef® (Cefradine) is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by sensitive organisms, including:
Upper respiratory tract infections: Pharyngitis, sinusitis, otitis media, tonsillitis, laryngotracheobronchitis.
Lower respiratory tract infections: Acute and chronic bronchitis, lobar and bronchopneumonia.
Urinary tract infections: Cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis.
Skin and soft tissue infections: Abscess, cellulitis, furunculosis, impetigo.
Gastrointestinal tract infections: Bacillary dysentery, enteritis, peritonitis.
Bone and joint infections.
Surgical prophylaxis: Used for perioperative prophylactic administration (pre-operatively, intra-operatively, and post-operatively). In cesarean sections, intra-operative administration (after clamping the umbilical cord) and post-operative use can reduce the incidence of certain post-operative infections.

Dosage may be administered without regard to meals.
Adults (Oral):
Usual dose: 1-2 g daily in 2-4 divided doses.
Severe or prolonged infections: Up to 4 g daily in equally divided doses.
Specific Infections:
Skin and respiratory tract infections: 250 mg every 6 hours or 500 mg every 12 hours.
Lobar pneumonia: 500 mg every 6 hours or 1 g every 12 hours.
Urinary tract infections: 500 mg every 12 hours.
Gastrointestinal tract infections: 500 mg 3-4 times daily.
Children (Oral):
Usual total dose: 25-50 mg/kg/day in 2-4 equally divided doses.
Perioperative Prophylaxis:
Recommended dose: 1-2 g intramuscularly or intravenously. Subsequent doses, either parenteral or oral, should be given as appropriate. Therapy should continue for at least 48-72 hours after symptoms resolve or bacterial eradication is confirmed.
Renal Impairment:
Adjust doses and frequency based on the degree of impairment, severity of infection, organism susceptibility, and serum drug concentration.

Rocef® Powder for Suspension: Shake the bottle well. Add 65 ml of boiled, cooled water (using the provided cup) to the bottle. Shake gently until the powder dissolves. Shake well before each use.
Rocef® Forte Powder for Suspension: Follow the same procedure as above.

Possible side effects include:
Gastrointestinal: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort.
Allergic reactions: Skin rashes, urticaria, eosinophilia, angioedema, anaphylaxis.
Others: Elevation of hepatic enzyme values, neutropenia, superinfection (e.g., with Candida), pseudomembranous colitis, and thrombophlebitis (following IV administration).

Use cautiously in patients hypersensitive to penicillins.

Although no adverse effects on the fetus have been reported, safety during pregnancy has not been firmly established. Use only when clearly indicated.
As cephalosporins are distributed into breast milk, use with caution in nursing mothers.

Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
Pharmaceutical Precautions
Store capsules and dry powder in a cool, dry place, away from light.
Reconstituted syrup: Use within 7 days if stored at room temperature or 14 days if refrigerated. Protect from bright or direct sunlight.

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C in a dry place. Protect from light and moisture.
Keep out of reach of children.
